Hello everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Halloween. This year I made my own Mona Lisa costume. I went on Austin's famed 6th Street just to show off my costume, because my uncle told me I needed to exploit it as much as possible. Anyway, so on 6th Street there was like A MILLION people there and there were some really amazing costumes, (A Mario, Luigi, Toad and Yoshi group, I saw Harvey Birdman, a Matador and Bull and a REALLY cute kid who was Buzz Light-year complete with a spaceship car that his dad pushed him around in.) To my surprise, EVERYONE wanted to take their picture with me. I must've taken like 70+ pictures, lol. Almost everyone recognized me (including kids and people who didn't know English) a lot of people just stared/pointed and a crowd of people on the balcony all shouted "HEY MONA" and cheered for me. Most real life attention I've ever gotten ever. c:
Other than that, I've been really busy. Those free sketches are coming, I have to reinstall Photoshop for my computer as I recently upgraded to Windows 7. Yay for being the only artist in the world without a Mac, lol.
Catch you later!

Here's a picture of my costume!
Money's really tight for my family, so I used to take the 1221 Life Drawing Open Studio - Long Poses class. It's 3-hour long, 6 week class once a week for only $60. It may sound like a lot, but compared to the $200-400 classes, this is super cheap.
I've also taken AMoA's Life Drawing for Teens class back in Junior year. It was really helpful, because we were guided through different figure-drawing exercises, bu the teacher was really really critical. Two out of the ten people in that class left because they fell behind or felt not good enough. DX The teacher was very confrontational. I learned a lot from that class because of how very honest the teacher was. I feel like a got a leg-up on my drawing skills with this class because of her!
Laguna Gloria is also really beautiful; a lot of weddings are held there. And there's peacocks everywhere! lol You can hear them during class a lot.
I have most of my portfolio ready, thanks to the AMoA studio classes I took. I also had to do a lot of observational drawings fr my portoflio, which I got plenty of already. I'm only missing digital pieces, because I don't want to recycle old ones. I just need to work on corporate-related mock designs.
I've been meaning to post my stuff on Facebook for friends to see, but I never get around to it. I'll probably dump it all before NPD, I hope.
As for website, you might draw motivation from finishing your website before you start concentrating on your portfolio. Sometimes working backwards like that helps me finish projects.
And maybe the Closet Artists... were hiding in the closet! o_o Or maybe it's not a running club anymore. D: The commie club sounds really cool, and having a big brother/sister to help you get acquainted sounds cool.

"Life is pure adventure, and the sooner we realize that, the quicker we will be able to treat life as art."
Until you get all your college art problems worked out, classes at AMoA are seriously helpful.
